Movements during the life of the rigid riser require the task of estimating fatigue damage to re-assess the riser design as they present a more realistic Axial tension and Bend moment when compared to that calculated using fatigue loading cases.
The Top Strain Monitoring System provided by ouronova uses fiber optic sensors to measure strain and stress at the top of rigid risers, providing axial tension and bend moment.
