ON presents new technology at the OTC Brazil 20198 de November de 2019

The leading names of the oil and gas industry will have the opportunity of getting to know yet another innovative solution developed by Ouro Negro: a system for monitoring temporarily abandoned wells, one of the responsibilities of production field operators. The technology, which was fully developed by the Brazilian company and whose patent has been registered, is the theme of a technical study that was presented on October 30 at the Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) Brazil 2019, at the Sul America Convention Center in Rio de Janeiro. The event is organized jointly by the OTC and the Brazilian Oil, Gas and Biofuels Institute (IBP).

“With decommissioning on the increase, this solution is extremely important to enable the monitoring of a well until its final abandonment, increasing operational safety and minimizing environmental risks. It also reduces costs, given that it is possible to postpone permanent abandonment, and as it is installed beforehand ensures that well conditions are safer and more reliable for final abandonment”, highlights Ouro Negro CEO, Eduardo Costa.

This technology has already been presented to the ANP Operational Safety and Environment Superintendency, and is fully compliant with the requirements of ANP Resolution Nº 46/2016: Technical Regulation of the Well Integrity Management System (SGIP).

Paper Monitoring System and method for abandoned submarine wells with wet christmas tree (ANM) was presented on October 30th by ON's Project Leader Pedro Panta.

Universities are startup labs

On October 29, Arthur Braga, founder and president of the Ouro Negro Council, was one of the guests at the panel “Levy Funds as a Game Changer in the Brazilian Offshore Industry”, led by the R&D superintendent of the National Agency for Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP), Alfredo Renault. The panel was also attended by the Head of the Department of Naval Architecture & Ocean Engineering at the University of São Paulo, Professor Kazuo Nishimoto, Petrobras' Chief Technology Officer, Orlando Ribeiro and Oil and Gas, Petroleum Regulation and Economics Consultant, Telmo Ghiorzi.

We went to meet the
BDEP’s super robot

Companies like Ouro Negro, where innovation is part of their DNA, never miss an opportunity to get to meet and exchange information with other organizations that add value to the oil and gas industry.

This is what led a team of ON robotics engineers and data scientists to visit the ANP Exploration and Production Data Bank (BDEP) and meet super robot Hermes, the institution’s newest technological collaborator. BDEP’s Technical Data superintendent, Cláudio Jorge de Souza, and the vice-superintendent, Luciano Lobo, received our team, composed of ON’s Robotics leader, Julio Guedes, together with team members Thiago Sillos, Adriel Souza and Ramon Bernardo and the coordinator of Monitoring Services, Matheus Barbosa.

ON’s robotics team and Hermes operate in different areas, but they all reflect the digital transformation this industry is undergoing to advance in new scenarios.
