The challenge
The downhole safety valve is installed below the ground/seabed to prevent the uncontrolled flow of hydrocarbons through the production tubing in a catastrophic event. Hydraulic-actuated downhole safety valves, used in many applications worldwide, have significant failure rate, compromising the well barrier envelope and requiring costly workovers for repair.
Our solution
The eSSV is a fully electric downhole safety valve based on a robust electromechanical actuator with embedded control electronics.
The eSSV is a fully electric downhole safety valve based on a robust electromechanical actuator with embedded control electronics.
With an optimal actuation system, the eSSV is robust and reliable equipment for high-pressure and high-temperature deepwater wells. It requires very low power and even lower (residual) power to keep open.
The eSSV has an integrated monitoring system for pressure and temperature and an electromechanical “trigger” that composes the equipment’s fail-safe close mechanism. This allows for fast and reliable flapper closure in case of well failure.
Main Advantages
- Electric commanded open and close operations
- Immediate flapper closing in case of failures
- Redundant sensing systems for choke position, feedback, and diagnostics
- Integrated PDG sensors
- Long life cycle with high reliability in harsh environments
- Designed for extreme temperatures, high pressures and high flow rates
