The challenge

The transition to all-electric well completions in offshore applications demands highly complex communication architecture and extensive power supply capacity. Most existing subsea wells do not have control systems able to manage extensive data and signal volumes and cannot supply the required electric power for equipment operations, restricting the use of electric systems.

Our solution

The electronic subsea control module (eSCM) is a dedicated control system designed to perform the communication and power source interfaces between the electric well systems and the surface control units.

The eSCM is a dedicated control system designed to perform the communication and power source interfaces between the electric well systems and the surface control units.

Composed of an Electric Power Unit (EPU), a Power Line Modem (PLM) for communication over a 20Km range, and a Data Storage Unit (DSU), the eSCM manages a large number of communication and control signals in real time and supplies power for downhole equipment. The canister is designed to be replaced via ROV and is compatible with many wet Christmas trees. Besides well systems, the eSCM can be used as a subsea hub to communicate between the surface and any subsea electric system.
