eBCVElectric Ball Control Valve
The Challenge
Electric intelligent completion systems are increasingly a leading figure in the global market. The power consumption and the high costs involved in this kind of system, are the main challenges for the use of all-electric technologies in wells that do not provide sufficient economic returns to justify significant investments (like mature fields).
Our Solution
In this scenario, ouronova developed and patented a concept of an electric flow control valve with low power consumption, designed for onshore or shallow water applications where pressure, temperature and flow rate are not so high.
The concept is based on the assembling of several “mini ball valves” on the same rotation axis with their production zones out of phase with each other, generating a flow control mechanism using the various combinations of open valves for each rotation position. The rotation axis is driven by a low power electric motor, which is able to ensure the desired position.
The eBCV is a cost-effective solution for wells with lower production flow rate, including multilateral well architecture.
